Answer:

Would War One was the cause of mass tension and competition between European Powers. Germany was a newly emerging European powerhouse and a threat to Great Britain's Royal Navy. Competition for natural resources also took place with the mass colonization of underdeveloped lands. In the Balkans, Austria-Hungary had grown very unstable due to the number of ethnicities in the country demanding their independence. France also hated the outcome of the Franco-Prussian War which they lost the territory of Alsace-Lorraine to Germany. Then when military alliances had formed between Europeans, this caused a rivalry that would be fought against each other in WW1. What sparked WW1 was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
