In some cells , there are two types of endoplasmic reticulums ( ER ) known as the smooth ER and the rough ER as seen in the imag

e below . Many illustrations of a cell show various locations for organelles like the Mitochondria , Golgi apparatus , or Vacuoles however when drawing the rough ER , the location is always the same .
How is the location of the rough ER related to its overall purpose for the cell ?

A)By being closely attached to the smooth ER the rough ER can easily sort , synthesize , and package lipids for the cell

B)The rough ER used as an extra layer of protection around the nucleus to prevent ribosomos from entering the nucleus

C)With ribosomes attached to its surface , the rough ER is near the nucleus which holds the instructions for making proteins

D)Being close to the nucleus helps the rough ER receive better direction on producing energy in the form of ATP for the cell

Answer:

C

Explanation:

A is wrong: making lipids is the SMOOTH ER's job, not the rough er

B is wrong: protecting the nucleus is the nuclear membrane's job

D is wrong: Producing ATP is mainly the mitochondria's job

C is right because the ribosome's main job is making proteins, and those instructions come from the nucleus, so there needs to be a close access.

Consider a general Eudicot flowering plant. Identify three major "above ground" structures and two major "below ground" structur
Novay_Z [31]

Answer:

See the answer below

Explanation:

A Eudicot flowering plant is a plant that comes up with two seed leaves during the process of germination. Generally, Eudicot plants are characterized by netted venation of leaves, floral parts in 4/5 or multiples, and ring arrangement of vascular bundles.

Three major above-ground structure of a typical Eudicot include;

1. The stem

2. The leaves

3. The flowers (for those that have reached maturity)

Two major below-ground structures of a typical Eudicot include;

1. The roots

2. The root hairs

geniusboy [140]

The question is incomplete, below is the complete question.

Mr. B has been transferred to your floor to wait and see whether the chest tube allows his lungs to completely re-expand. But when he arrives, he is in severe respiratory distress. He says "I felt better before I came into the ER! Is this tube doing anything?"

You tell the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). As the two of you move him into the bed, you notice that his chest tube bottle is lying on its side on the gurney, with air going into it. When you point this out to the CNS, she immediately grabs the bottle and sets it upright on the floor. You see air start bubbling through the fluid right away. "That was the problem!" she says. "They lost the water seal, and air was going into his chest from the bottle. You would not believe how many times that happens on transport." When you examine Mr. B, you have trouble detecting his lung sounds on the left. Even stranger, his apical heart sound is in the wrong place - it is over toward the right side of his chest. His respiration rate and heart rate are both increased, and he is struggling to breathe. "Let's give him a little oxygen. He'll be a lot better in a half-hour," says the CNS. "Check back on him."

QUESTION - Why would accumulation of air in his pleural space cause his heart sounds to be in the wrong place?

Accumulation of air in Mr B pleural space will cause his heart sound to be heard in the wrong place because the left side is his chest is being filled up with air making the organs in his chest to to be pushed over to the right side.

Color-blindness is an x-linked recessive condition. a man with normal vision is married to a woman with normal vision, but whose
pentagon [3]
Since color blindness is a sex-linked recessive genetic disorder, it is carried by a X chromosome. Males (XY) are affected if they get the affected X from their mother, since males only have one X, and it is therefore always expressed. Females (XX), however, get one X from their mother and the other from their father. So both parents have to pass a color blind X to be affected (both alleles, by the definition of recessive).
Even though the mother is not affected, she's carrying it because her father was color blind. And the father is not affected. However, in Turner's Syndrome, one X is destroyed after fertilization, so the other X is the daughter's primary (only remaining) X. Note: Turners only affects females. Therefore, this is a rare situation in which a daughter gets affected by an X-linked recessive condition.

How does the surface area-to-volume ratio limit cell size?
olganol [36]
The important point is that the surface area to the volume ratio gets smaller as the cell gets larger. Thus, if the cell grows beyond a certain limit, not enough material will be able to cross the membrane fast enough to accommodate the increased cellular volume. Hope I’ve helped ;)
