What do you think was Edgar Allan Poe’s purpose for writing “The - Tale Heart”?
Ierofanga [76]

Answer:

Poe uses his words economically in the “Tell-Tale Heart”—it is one of his shortest stories—to provide a study of paranoia and mental deterioration. Poe strips the story of excess detail as a way to heighten the murderer’s obsession with specific and unadorned entities: the old man’s eye, the heartbeat, and his own claim to sanity.

Read this excerpt from The Grapes of Wrath:
Kisachek [45]

Answer: Sympathetic.

Explanation: The character is desperately hungry, <u>so the author uses sympathetic language to express how weak the character is</u>. Because of hunger, the weakness must be the preponderant element expressed, what is done by means of the syntax language and the speech itself: "<u>I'll work for a little piece of meat</u>."

The author uses a lot of punctuation to shorten the sentences and to pass the idea of espasmodic thinking.

This is a great example of mixing grammatic with the situation the character lives.

I'd say the correct answer is "<span>Marriage should be based on love rather than social position."

That is pretty much the theme of his most famous satirical comedy "The Importance of Being Earnest".</span>
