A cooler contains eleven bottles of sports drink: four lemon lime flavored and seven orange flavoured. You randomly grab a bottle and give it to a friend. Then, you randomly grab a bottle for yourself. Your friends gets lemon lime and you get an orange.

  in independent variable is something being changed in an experiment to test the effects on the dependent variable.  the dependent variable is what is being tested.
