By moving substances across membranes, transport proteins make everything from nerve impulses to cellular metabolism possible. Without transport proteins, for example, the sodium-potassium gradient that allows our nerves to fire would not exist.

All the gametes of isogamous organisms are genetically identical.

True
False
Lady bird [3.3K]

Answer:

False

Explanation:

Gametes are formed by meiotic division, and classified by shape, size and activity. In some species they are undifferentiated, that is, isogamous, resembling, but not identical, regardless of gender. However, most species have heterogeneous gametes (anisogamy), differentiated by morphological, dimensional and mobility aspects.

Select the correct sequence of steps as energy is extracted from glucose during cellular respiration.
White raven [17]

Answer:

a.glycolysis d.acetyl CoA b.citric acid cycle e.electron transport chain

Explanation:

Cellular respiration is set of metabolic processes that occur within the cell in order to produce usable energy (ATP) from the nutrients (food). It can be divided into four main stages:

 1. Glycolysis-anareobic process in which glucose is broken down and it occurs in the cytoplasm. Products of glycolysis are 2 molecules of pyruvate and 2 molecules of ATP.
 2. Transition- Pyruvate form the glycolysis is transported into the mitochondria, where it is converted to a molecule Acetyl CoA used for further breakdown
 3. Citric acid cycle or Krebs cycle- aerobic process that occurs in the mitochondria matrix in which 4 molecules of ATP, and NADH are produced
 4. Electron transport chain-set of reactions that occur within the cristae of mitochondria. NADH and electrons are passed through electron transport chain to result in the production of ATP (32 ATPs for every glucose).

If the sun were to suddenly stop providing energy to Earth, most ecosystems would vanish. Which of the following ecosystems woul
Alchen [17]

Answer:

The correct answer is C) benthic ocean

Explanation:

Sun is the ultimate source of energy for almost all the organisms present on the earth. The organism that especially lives on land are highly dependent on solar energy because all the plants and most algae require sunlight to make their food and they are the primary produces on which other organism are dependent.

Benthic ecosystem are the ecosystem that is present at the very depth of the ocean or on the ocean floor. So in that much depth, there is very little or no penetration of sunlight occurs. So the ecosystem there does not directly depend on sunlight for there survival. So they benthic ocean ecosystem would likely survive the longest.
