Picture 1:

6 + 8 = 14

Smaller Triangle Length - 2(14) - 2 = 26

Larger Triangle Length - 3(14) = 52

Length In Total - 78

x = 14

2nd Picture:

The scale is times 3

So the smaller image is 13 in length (13 * 3 = 39)

To make this possible: 23 - 10 = 13

x = 23

3rd Picture:

9 + 6 = 15

Larger Triangle: 2(15) + 4 = 34

Smaller Triangle: (15) + 4 = 19

Total Length - 53

x = 15

Hope This Helps!

8/(2x -2) = 14/(3x)

Cross multiply

24x = 28x - 28

Simplify. Isolate the x

24x (-28x) = 28x (-28x) - 28

24x - 28x = -28

-4x = -28

-4x/-4 = -28/-4

x = 6

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(x-10)/5 = 39/15

Cross multiply

15(x - 10) = 39(5)

Simplify

15x - 150 = 195

Isolate the x

15x - 150 (+150) = 195 (+150)

15x = 345

15x/15 = 345/15

x = 23

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(x + 4)/6 = (2x + 4)/9

Multiply 6 to both sides & 9 to both sides

9(x + 4) = 6(2x + 4)

Distribute 9 to x and 4, and 6 to 2x and 4

9x + 36 = 12x + 24

Isolate the x.

9x (-12x) + 36 (-36) = 12x (-12x) + 24 (-36)

9x - 12x = 24 - 36

-3x = -12

Isolate the x. divide -3 from both sides

-3x/-3 = -12/-3

x = -12/-3

x = 4

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hope this helps

In a random sample of 200 Americans, 51% said they favor building more nuclear power plants. In a random sample of 150 French, 4
Varvara68 [4.7K]

Answer:

Yes, there is enough evidence to say the proportions are the same.

Step-by-step explanation:

Null hypothesis: The proportions are the same.

Alternate hypothesis: The proportions are not the same.

Data given:

p1 = 51% = 0.51

n1 = 200

p2 = 48% = 0.48

n2 = 150

pooled proportion (p) = (n1p1 + n2p2) ÷ (n1 + n2) = (200×0.51 + 150×0.48) ÷ (200 + 150) = 174 ÷ 350 = 0.497

Test statistic (z) = (p1 - p2) ÷ sqrt[p(1-p)(1/n1 + 1/n2) = (0.51 - 0.48) ÷ sqrt[0.497(1-0.497)(1/200 + 1/150)] = 0.03 ÷ 0.054 = 0.556

The test is a two-tailed test. At 0.10 significance level the critical values -1.645 and 1.645

Conclusion:

Fail to reject the null hypothesis because the test statistic 0.556 falls within the region bounded by the critical values.

Suppose that bugs are present in 1% of all computer programs. A computer de-bugging program detects an actual bug with probabili
lawyer [7]

Answer:

(i) The probability that there is a bug in the program given that the de-bugging program has detected the bug is 0.3333.

(ii) The probability that the bug is actually present given that the de-bugging program claims that bugs are present on both the first and second tests is 0.1111.

(iii) The probability that the bug is actually present given that the de-bugging program claims that bugs are present on all three tests is 0.037.

Step-by-step explanation:

Denote the events as follows:

B = bugs are present in a computer program.

D = a de-bugging program detects the bug.

The information provided is:

P(B) =0.01\\P(D|B)=0.99\\P(D|B^{c})=0.02

(i)

The probability that there is a bug in the program given that the de-bugging program has detected the bug is, P (B | D).

The Bayes' theorem states that the conditional probability of an event E given that another event X has already occurred is:

P(E|X)=\frac{P(X|E)P(E)}{P(X|E)P(E)+P(X|E^{c})P(E^{c})}

Use the Bayes' theorem to compute the value of P (B | D) as follows:

P(B|D)=\frac{P(D|B)P(B)}{P(D|B)P(B)+P(D|B^{c})P(B^{c})}=\frac{(0.99\times 0.01)}{(0.99\times 0.01)+(0.02\times (1-0.01))}=0.3333

Thus, the probability that there is a bug in the program given that the de-bugging program has detected the bug is 0.3333.

(ii)

The probability that a bug is actually present given that the de-bugging program claims that bug is present is:

P (B|D) = 0.3333

Now it is provided that two tests are performed on the program A.

Both the test are independent of each other.

The probability that the bug is actually present given that the de-bugging program claims that bugs are present on both the first and second tests is:

P (Bugs are actually present | Detects on both test) = P (B|D) × P (B|D)

                                                                                     =0.3333\times 0.3333\\=0.11108889\\\approx 0.1111

Thus, the probability that the bug is actually present given that the de-bugging program claims that bugs are present on both the first and second tests is 0.1111.

(iii)

Now it is provided that three tests are performed on the program A.

All the three tests are independent of each other.

The probability that the bug is actually present given that the de-bugging program claims that bugs are present on all three tests is:

P (Bugs are actually present | Detects on all 3 test)

= P (B|D) × P (B|D) × P (B|D)

=0.3333\times 0.3333\times 0.3333\\=0.037025927037\\\approx 0.037

Thus, the probability that the bug is actually present given that the de-bugging program claims that bugs are present on all three tests is 0.037.
