Which detail best supports the idea that the people in the future are confused about where the narrator has come from?
alekssr [168]

The detail that best supports the idea that the people in the future are confused about where the narrator has come from is:

I had always anticipated that the people of the year Eight Hundred and Two Thousand odd would be incredibly in front of us in knowledge, art, everything. Then one of them suddenly asked me a question that showed him to be on the intellectual level of one of our five-year-old children-asked me, in fact, if I had come from the sun in a thunderstorm.

In The Time Machine by H.G. Wells, we learn of the author and people whom he had built the Time Machine for. They were marveled to see him and wondered where he had come from.

The question from one of the observers shows that the people were confused about where the narrator had come from. He thought that the author had come from the thunderstorm.

Read Ali's brainstorming table. Beginning: When our towering sunflower drooped in September, I gathered its seeds. Middle: After
drek231 [11]

Answer:

The sentence that would best resolve this series of events in a descriptive narrative is:

In no time, I had a garden of giant golden flowers soaring toward the sky.

Explanation:

We were given the beginning, the middle, and the end of a sequence of events. Now, we are being asked to choose a resolution. In literature, resolution is what comes after the climax, when the conflicts have been solved and things have worked out.

In the "end", we were told the speaker could already see the seedlings start to break through the freshly watered soil. For that reason, our choice for resolution must be something that takes place after that. All options, except for the first one, narrate something that would take place before the seeds were planted or before they germinated. The only option that narrates something that happens afterwards is the first one: "In no time, I had a garden of giant golden flowers soaring toward the sky." That is why this is the best option for a resolution.
