Based on what I understand, there is no change in how government ruled over the land from the past up to the current time.
War was waged not because there is a dire threat on the well-being of the nation but because their government leaders are intent on gaining more power (financial, influence) over other countries at the expense of the common people to satisfy their own selfish interest and vested needs..
If you are trying to shorten that, it can be written like this; "My parents and the vet told me about different types of dogs."
1. Mixture--Lettuce AND tomato
2. Mixture-- Air consists of many different elements and gasses
3. Pure-- You aren't changing the substance of wood by shaving it, but if you were thinking from a makeup level it would be a mixture to begin with
4.Mixture-- There is more than just water in pond water...bacteria and such.
