For many generations, a forest has been the home of a single species of bird; these birds primarily eat insects off the forest f

loor. One year, humans living in the area accidentally introduce a new
species of bird to the forest. This new species has the same diet as the existing species. Which description predicts what will most likely result from these two species of bird living in the same

ecosystem? (5 points)

O Both bird species cannot occupy the same niche and, therefore, one species will die off.

Both bird species would share the forest and have plenty of food and resources.

One bird species will adapt and feed on different organisms in the forest.

Answer:

Both bird species cannot occupy the same niche and, therefore, one species will die off.

Explanation:

Introducing a new species of bird will lead to competition among the organism. The food source will not be adequate for both species and competition will set in leading to survival of the fittest.

The population that best compete will most likely to chase away the other species who do not have food because hunger and starvation will lead to death of the other species and the species that is able to find food will survive and reproduce and remain in the niche.

Biological magnification, or biomagnification, occurs when pollutants taken up by organisms at the base of the food chain reach high concentrations in the bodies of animals at the top of the food chain. Effects of biomagnification vary widely depending on the pollutant, organism and ecosystem in question.
