The Ku Klux Klan was created after Abraham Lincoln had claimed slavery was no longer legal. The KKK went around, killing black people and such. They also protested around the segregation process. They are still around to this day, but I don't believe that are killing anymore.
Artistic innovations was discouraged as the emperor took down everything that could possibly harm people's opinion towards himself or the government in order to be secured. The publishing is strictly limited and people who publish anything that did harm to it's stability was punished.

These alliances that took place before World War 1 in a way started the war. For an example, Germany was in an alliance with Hungary and when they declared war against Serbia, Germany had to fight with them, and so on, finally creating World War 1. Within weeks, Germany declared war with other countries that declared war with others, creating a "domino effect" which just means that most countries just started fighting with one another, either because they declared war with them or because their allies did.
