Answer:

$1,200

Explanation:

Since  Arthur Company is producing below its capacity, it means it does not have to increase in plant capacity, I mean fixed costs in order to fulfil the special order, hence, in determining the increase in operating profits, we would only consider variable costs.

average cost per unit=variable cost per unit+fixed cost per unit

$0.96=variable cost per unit+$0.14

variable cost per unit=$0.96-$0.14

variable cost per unit=$0.82

Increase in operating profits=(special order price-variable cost per unit)*quantity of special order

special order price=$0.90

variable cost per unit=$0.82

quantity of special order=15000 utensils

Increase in operating profits=($0.90-$0.82)*15000

Increase in operating profits=$1,200

Marrrta [24]

Using Taylor's rule, if the current inflation rate equals the target inflation rate and real GDP equals potential GDP, then the target federal funds rate equals the current inflation rate plus the real equilibrium federal funds rate.

Inflation can be defined as an increase in prices, which can be translated as a decrease in purchasing power over time. The rate of decline in people's purchasing power can be reflected in the increase in the average price of a selected basket of goods and services over a period of time. An increase in price, which is often expressed as a percentage, means that one unit of currency is effectively buying less than it did in the previous period. Inflation can be contrasted with deflation, which occurs when prices fall and people's purchasing power increases.

Projects A and B both require an initial investment of $100,000. Project A produces $200,000 in cash flows in the subsequent 5 y
Marysya12 [62]

Answer:

d. The NPV of project A will be more sensitive to changes in the cost of capital compared to the NPV of project B

Explanation:

The net present value is the present value of after tax cash flows from an investment less the amount invested.

The sensitivity to cost of capital can he determined by calculating the npv using different cost of capitals.

Net present value can be calculated using a financial calculator.

For the first project:

Cash flow in year zero = -100,000

Cash flow each year from year one to five = 200,000

Npv when I is 8% = 698,542.01

Npv when I is 10% = 657,157.35

NPV when I is 12% = 620,955.2

For the second project:

Cash flow in year zero = -100,000

Cash flow in year one = 400,000

Cash flow in year two = 300,000

Cash flow in year three = 200,000

Cash flow in year four and five = 50,000

Npv when I is 8% = 757,119.12

Npv when I is 10% = 727,029.95

NPV when I is 12% = 698,804.32

The percentage change in the npvs of project A is greater than the percentage change in npv of project b when different cost of capitals are used. Thus, project A is more sensitive to cost of capital.

To find the NPV using a financial calacutor:

1. Input the cash flow values by pressing the CF button. After inputting the value, press enter and the arrow facing a downward direction.

2. After inputting all the cash flows, press the NPV button, input the value for I, press enter and the arrow facing a downward direction.

3. Press compute

alexgriva [62]

Answer:

1. c. Operating cash flow = 50,000

2. b. Net income=$115,000

Explanation:

1. The Cashflow for the year is calculated by adding the balances from the Financing, Investing and Operating Activities in the following manner;

Cash Flow for the year = Opening Balance + Operating Activities + Investing Activities + Financing Activities

Operating Activities = Cash Flow - Opening Balance - Investing Activities - Financing Activities

= 25,000 - 55,000 - (-250,000) - 170,000

= $50,000

2. Net Income is calculated from Operating Activities in the following manner;

Net Income = Operating Cashflow + Increase in Inventory - Increase in Accruals - Depreciation

= 50,000 + 100,000 - 25,000 - 10,000

= $115,000
