The value of the function f (x) is 15/2 when x = -5 and is -73/2 when x = 3. What is the equation of the function?
KengaRu [80]

Answer:

y = -5.5x - 20

Step-by-step explanation:

There are many functions that cross those points.

Assuming you're looking at a straight line.

y = mx + b

15/2 = -5m + b  --> 7.5 = -5m + b

-73/2 = 3m + b  --> -36.5 = 3m + b

Subtract the first from the second.

-44 = 8m

m = -5.5

Plugging back into the first equation, we get b = -20

Let f be the function defined by f(x) = −ln(x) for 0 < x ≤ 1. R is the region between the graph of f and the x-axis.
aivan3 [116]

Answer:

0.089

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x) = -ln(x) and g(x) = x²

Start by graphing the region.  The two curves intersect at about (0.653, 0.426), with g(x) on the left and f(x) on the right.  The region is the triangular area between the curves and above the x-axis.

If we were to cut the region horizontally (perpendicular to the y-axis), the resulting line is the width of the square cross section.  The thickness of this square is dy.  So the volume of the square is:

dV = A dy

dV = s² dy

dV = (x₂ − x₁)² dy

dV = (e⁻ʸ − √y)² dy

The total volume is the sum of all the squares from y=0 to y=0.426.

V = ∫ dV

V = ∫₀⁰'⁴²⁶ (e⁻ʸ − √y)² dy

Evaluate with a calculator:

V ≈ 0.089

Blizzard [7]
Now, the average cost per night is 495....for 5 nights, it is (495 * 5) = 2475
and since the cost has tripled in the past 4 years....we can divide the regular cost by 3 to find out how much it would have cost 4 years ago
2475/3 = 825..thats for a 5 night stay 4 yrs ago

so the difference is : 2475 - 825 = 1650
