Answer:

The number 5 is a rational number, so you must be able to express it as a quotient, and you can. Dividing any number by 1 gives you the original number, so to express an integer like 5 as a quotient, you simply write 5/1. The same is true for negative numbers: −5 = −5/1.

Aline crosses the coordinates (-4,4) and (2.-5). What is the slope<br> of the line?
lisabon 2012 [21]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the slope formula:

m = \frac{y2 -y1}{x2 - x1}

where m = slope

Given the coordinates

(-4, 4) ---> this means x1 = -4 , y1 = 4

(2, -5) ---> this means x2 = 2 , y2 = -5

Substitute these values into the slope formula:

m = \frac{y2 -y1}{x2 - x1}

m = \frac{-5 -4}{2 - (-4)}  = \frac{-9}{2+4} = \frac{-9}{6} = \frac{-3}{2}

Which system of equations is graphed on this coordinate plane
Allisa [31]

Answer:

y=(3x/2)+3 and y=(-1x/2)-1

Step-by-step explanation:

So what I did was use rise/run to find the slope of the equation. Let's focus on the line going from the bottom left to the top right corner. For this line, I would start on (-2,0) which is one of the points plotted on your number line and count how much it is away from (0,3). You should get 3 units. After this, count how much it is to the right which is 2 units. Now, use rise/run to find the slope. 3/2, therefore the slope of the line is 3x/2.  Now all we need is the y-int. For the Y int, all we have to do is see where the line touches the Y-axis which in this case is at (0,3). So your y-int would be 3. Now we can use this information to craft an equation in the form y=mx+b, m being the slope and b  being the y int. We should get y=(3x/2)+3. Now repeat this with the other line to find the equation, but be careful!!! It has a negative slope.

Solve 5x-4=5(x-3)+11<br> please help thank you!
dezoksy [38]
First, get rid of the parenthesis:
5x-4=5x-15+11
5x-4=5x-4
this equation will always be true, so there are infinite number of solutions.
