Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Maddie = y

Ryan = x

One more than means to (add 1)

Three times means to (multiply by 3)

Maddie worked for y hours

Ryan worked for

* x hours

* three times the number of hours that Maddie did

x = 3y

one more than

x = 3y + 1

Altogether

x + y = 45 hours

(3y +1) + y = 45

3y + y = 45-1

4y = 44

y= 44/4

y =11

Ryan hours (x)

x = 3y + 1

x= 3(11) + 1

x =33+ 1

x=34

Maddie hours (y)

y=11

x + y= 45

34+11= 45

Ryan: 34 hours

Maddie: 11 hours

Les bought 6 pairs of shorts for s dollars each and a blazer that cost three times as much as the pair of shorts. He spent a tot
cestrela7 [59]
6 pairs of shorts, for a
"s" dollars. A blazer costs 3 times as much, she bought one. The total was 139.50

6s + 3(6s) = 139.50
6s + 18s = 139.50
25s = 139.50 Divide everything by 25,
s = 5.58, which is how much the shorts were. Now for the blazers ;

It said they were three times the cost of shorts, if shorts are 5.58, it is 3*5.58.

3(5.58)

The blazer cost 16.74
