The protists are organisms which have characteristics similar to both plants and animals. There is huge diversity of protists on earth as they are single celled organisms and they increase in numbers by reproduction. They have a specialized cellular structure which includes organelles like nucleus, mitochondria, and others which are characteristic features of the eukaryotic organisms. They live in moist environment. They engulf their prey this way they are heterotrophic and they can also photosynthesize like plants.
