What thaws slower land, air, or water
Nesterboy [21]
Hmm... after some long thinking about this I would have to go with land. After land has been frozen, it thaws (<span>become liquid or soft as a result of warming.) Heat cannot "thaw" because it is apart of air. Water cannot "thaw" because it is already a liquid. Makes sense? I hope this helps! P.S. (A brainliest wouldn't hurt) ;)</span>

Explain the interrelationship between the Elodea plant and paramecia in a pond ecosystem?
choli [55]

The interrelationship between the Elodea plant and paramecia in a pond system is mutualism.

The pond system is a type of an artificial aquatic system that contains organisms (plants and animals) that are regularly maintain.

The Interrelationship between organisms which can occur in an ecosystem include:

  • competition,
  • predation,
  • commensalism,
  • mutualism and
  • parasitism.

Mutualism occurs when two organisms of different species benefits from each other.

The Elodea plant purifies the water through photosynthesis and provides habitat for the paramecia

The paramecia in turn generates carbondioxide through its body surface which is a key element used for photosynthesis by the Elodea plant.

A balanced polymorphism exist through disruptive selection in seed cracker finches from Cameroon in which small and large billed
Viefleur [7K]

Answer:

c. Directional selection

Explanation:

There are three types of selection: stabilizing, directional and disruptive. Currently seed cracker finches show disruptive selection with respect to bills. In disruptive selection two extreme phenotypes are preferred in population over the mean phenotype. Here either, small or large bills are beneficial for birds so it is an example of disruptive selection.

If due to some climatic change all seeds would become hard, it would be more beneficial for birds to have large bills. Slowly nature will select for birds with large bills rather than birds with small bills. The selection now will shift to directional selection since only one of the extreme phenotypes is being favoured.

A couple without an ancestral history of Tay-Sachs disease (a rare autosomal recessive) have two normal children and an infant a
Bas_tet [7]

Answer:

The probability is 25%.

Explanation:

  • Let the dominant allele for the disease be 'T' and recessive allele be 't'.
  • The couple with normal phenotype produces an infant with the Tay Sach's disease.
  • As the disease is autosomal recessive in nature, it will get expressed in a homozygous recessive condition, that is, when the genotype is : tt.
  • As the normal parents are producing a diseased offspring, the both parents must be heterozygous dominant (Tt) for the disease allele.
  • The brother of the husband and the sister of the wife, both having a normal phenotype, can have the following genotypes, TT or Tt.
  • If either of the individual (brother or sister) has TT genotype and the other has other has either TT or Tt genotype, there is zero probability that they will produce an offspring with the disease.

                     T          T                        and                       T            T

T     TT        TT                                             T     TT         TT

                     (N)        (N)                                                    (N)        (N)

T      TT        TT                                             t      Tt          Tt

                     (N)        (N)                                                    (N)         (N)

  • If both the individuals have a Tt genotype, the probability to produce  diseased offspring is one-fourth or 25%.

                                               T             t

                                   T        TT           Tt

                                             (N)           (N)

                                    t        Tt             tt

                                             (N)           (D)

  • (N) stands for normal and (D) stands for diseased phenotype.

An area in a forest was cleared to build a road. Which two of the following will be likely effects on the ecosystem?
Tresset [83]
Animals will migrate to other regions in search of food
The new species will evolve to survive in the deforested land

It's highly unlikely the animals will immediately adapt and the number of trees is decreasing because they're being cut down. Unless the question explicitly states that trees are being planted to replace those being lost.
