24.5 ft.

40 divided by 2 is 20.  

14 divided by 2 is 7.

20 times 3 is 60

7 times 3 is 21 ft.

Since you're trying to get to 70ft long just add 10 instead of 20.

That mans you are only adding 3.5 to 21.
