Which was an effect of the policy of impressment during Jefferson's presidency?
solmaris [256]

Answer:

B. increased U.S. hostility toward Britain

Explanation:

The British “Orders in Council”, together with the “forced recruitment” (impressment) of American sailors into the English fleet, constituted the main and irreconcilable basis of disagreement, leading to the fact that both states were involved in armed conflict.

In January 1806, President Jefferson delivered a message to Congress concerning impressment. Jefferson's statements heightened anti-British sentiment among American citizens.

While a federal system places most government power in the hands of the national government, by contrast a confederal system is
Marrrta [24]

Answer: The confederal system of government place more powers on the state and local government.

Explanation:

The federal system of government is a system of government where power is shared between the central government and the federation unit or States. In which each level of government enjoy autonomy. In a federal system of government, power is categorized into three main issues which are exclusive list, concurrent list, and residual list. The issues in the exclusive list is preserved only for the federal government, while the issues in the concurrent list is preserved only for federal, state, and local government to legislate upon. While issues in the residual list are issues that may not be found in the concurrent list which the federal government can legislate upon.

On the other hand, a confederal system of government can be defined simply as a variation of the federal system of government in which there is an agreement for the component unit to secede or pull apart in case the union cannot hold together. Under a confederal system of government central government does not enjoy the loyalty of the citizens, in the sense that, loyalty of the citizens to the government is at the state or local government level.

Furthermore, it is a weak system of government in which the state had more powers than the central government. In the sense that, minerals and financial resources is controlled by the state and local government. However, they only contribute money to fund the central government.

What were some horrors of the Second World War that resulted from this extreme nationalism and from authoritarianism?
salantis [7]

Answer:

Looking back on history, we can often see patterns emerging just before dangerous or terrible events occurred. One example is the Holocaust during the Second World War. It's obvious to us—now—that the rise of authoritarianism, including fascism, was paving the way for leaders in many countries to command the obedience of whole populations, even when these leaders began to order the killing of civilians. We can see how Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and others began to attack journalists, control the flow of information, and stir up nationalism by persecuting ethnic minorities or invading desirable lands. In some ways, their actions were like experiments, pushing the boundaries of authoritarian rule to see what they could get away with. When nobody stopped them, they became bolder and more aggressive. This article details some of those experiments.
