Answer:

The function is 16x + 69

Domain of the function is [0, 5]

Range of the function is [69, 149]

Step-by-step explanation:

Given - Jacob has 69 flowers for a big party decoration. In addition, he is

planning to buy some flower arrangements that have 16 flowers

each. All of the arrangements cost the same. Jacob is not sure yet

about the number of flower arrangements he wants to buy, but

he has enough money to buy up to 5 of them.

To find - Write a function to  describe how many flowers Jacob can buy.

Find a reasonable  domain and range for the function.

Proof -

Let us assume that,

The  number of flower arrangements Jacob buys = x

Given that,

Each Flower arrangement have 16 flowers.

So,

x Flower arrangements have 16x flowers.

Also given that, Jacob has 69 flowers for a big party decoration.

So,

Total flowers Jacob can buy, y = 16x + 69

So,

The function is 16x + 69

Now,

Given that, Jacob can buy up to 5 flower arrangements

i.e. x ≤  5

So,

Domain of the function is [0, 5]

Now,

When x = 0

y = 16(0) + 69 = 69

When x = 5

y = 16(5) + 69 = 149

So,

Range of the function is [69, 149]

Select the correct location on the coordinate plane. Ruhana owns a workshop where her team of technicians refurbishes TV sets an
yarga [219]

Answer:

Ruhana and her team should refurbish 15 tv sets and 20 dvd players each week to minimize the cost.

Step-by-step explanation:

For the given situation let the number of tv sets be x and number of dvd players be y.

Now we have to minimize the cost as it costs $75 to refurbish a tv set and $40 to refurbish a dvd player.

i.e. Minimize z=75x+40y

it gives subject to the constraints

4x+2y≥100......(1)(100 hours each week. It takes 4 hours to refurbish a tv set and 2 hours to refurbish a dvd player.)

x+y≥35.......(2)(weekly sales target is to refurbish at least 35 tv sets or dvd players.)

To plot equation (1) we need to find coordinates of points lying on line (1)

put x=0 gives 2y=100⇒y=50

put y=0 gives 4x=100⇒x=25

So we got points (0,50) and(25,0) for (1)..............(3)

Similarly for equation (2)

put x=0 gives y=35

put y=0 gives x=35

so we got points (0,35) and(35,0) for (2).................(4)

with the help of (3) and (4) we plot the following graph (assume x≥0 and y≥0)

The unbounded feasible region determined by constraints gives the corner points as A(0,50),B(15,20)and C(35,0).

from  we get the value of z is minimum at point B (15,20) .

hence we got our optimal solution at B (15,20), where x is the number of tv sets and y is the number of dvd players  .therefore Ruhana and her team should refurbish 15 tv sets and 20 dvd players each week to minimize the cost.

A painting crew reported that a job is 3/5 completed. What fraction of the job remains to be done?
Lunna [17]

Answer:

2/5

Step-by-step explanation:

5/5 = full job

3/5  = done

full job - done =  remaining

5/5 job - 3/5 job

= 2/5 (remaining)

An airplane travels 6111 kilometers against the wind in 9 hours and 7911 kilometers with the wind in the same amount of time. Wh
natima [27]

Answer:

Speed of the plane in still air: 779\; {\rm km \cdot h^{-1}}.

Windspeed: 100\; {\rm km \cdot h^{-1}}.

Step-by-step explanation:

Assume that x\; {\rm km \cdot h^{-1}} is the speed of the plane in still air, and that y\; {\rm km \cdot h^{-1}} is the speed of the wind.

  • When the plane is travelling against wind, the ground speed of this plane (speed of the plane relative to the ground) would be (x - y)\; {\rm km \cdot h^{-1}}.
  • When this plane is travelling in the same direction as the wind, the ground speed of this plane would be (x + y)\; {\rm km \cdot h^{-1}}.

The question states that when going against the wind (v = (x - y)\; {\rm km \cdot h^{-1}},) the plane travels 6111\; {\rm km} in 9\; {\rm h}. Hence, 9\, (x - y) = 6111.

Similarly, since the plane travels 7911\; {\rm km} in 9\; {\rm h} when travelling in the same direction as the wind (v = (x + y)\; {\rm km \cdot h^{-1}},) 9\, (x + y) = 7911.

Add the two equations to eliminate y. Subtract the second equation from the first to eliminate x. Solve this system of equations for x and y: x = 779 and y = 100.

Hence, the speed of this plane in still air would be 779\; {\rm km \cdot h^{-1}}, whereas the speed of the wind would be 100\; {\rm km \cdot h^{-1}}.
