What happens in the postsynaptic neuron when excitatory neurotransmitters bind to receptors?

Biology
1 answer:
zubka84 [21]3 years ago

Answer:

it causes the depolarization of the target cell

Explanation:

Glutamate is an excitatory amino acid neurotransmitter that binds to specific receptors on the surface of target cells and thus causes its depolarization. During glutamate-mediated depolarization, the difference in charge inside and outside the cell is lost due to the entry of sodium and calcium positive ions into the postsynaptic cell (neuron) through specific ion channels. Moreover, glutamate binding also leads to the exit of potassium ions from the cell, thereby resulting in excitation. Through this mechanism, glutamate regulates many signaling pathways, such as those involved in memory, learning, emotions, cognition, motor control, etc.

Which of the following sequences shows a frameshift mutation compared to the wild-type mRNA sequence?
Butoxors [25]

Option C:

B. wild-type 5-AUGCAUACAUUGGAGUGA-3 mutant 5'-AUGCAUACAUCUGGAGUGA- 3'

Explanation:

A frameshift mutation is a genetic mutation such that the triplet nature of gene expression by codons, the insertion or deletion occurs in such as way that it alters the complete sequence of 3 codon sets and can change the reading frame, resulting in a completely different translation from the original.

As it is pertinent to understanding that all genes are normally translated in sets of 3 codons, which typically describes and explain a unique amino acid sequence. Thus, if a frame shift mutation occurs, it can affect many amino acid sequences and finally the entire protein.

If we look at option B:

wild-type 5-AUG CAU ACA UUG GAG UGA-3

mutant 5’- AUG CAU ACA UCU GGA GUG A-3’

An insertion of a base Uracil showed at the end of 3rd codon which affected and altered the whole sequence of codon triplets. This changed all next codons and finally all next amino acids will be altered.

I need help on a 250 word essay about facts about like scientific knowledge.
Maslowich

Scientific knowledge refers to a generalized body of laws and theories to explain a phenomenon or behavior of interest that are acquired using the scientific method. Laws are observed patterns of phenomena or behaviors, while theories are systematic explanations of the underlying phenomenon or behavior.Scientific Knowledge is Based on Empirical Evidence Identifies accurate examples of data used for evidence. For example: Much of the data about the seafloor is collected without direct observations. ... For example: the sonar mapping activity graph can serve as a model of the seafloor.Scientific knowledge allows us to develop new technologies, solve practical problems, and make informed decisions — both individually and collectively. Because its products are so useful, the process of science is intertwined with those applications: New scientific knowledge may lead to new applications.Scientific knowledge refers to a generalized body of laws and theories to explain a phenomenon or behavior of interest that are acquired using the scientific method. Laws are observed patterns of phenomena or behaviors, while theories are systematic explanations of the underlying phenomenon. It is derived from perception, learning, and discovery. Scientific knowledge, in particular, is organized in a systematic way and is testable and verifiable. It is used to provide explanations of the occurrence of events.Scientific knowledge is fully objective, verified by independent scientific research. The course of the conducted research, applied research methods and their nature and research issues should be determined objectively by scientists, ie independently of other entities and institutions.

Shell coiling in some snails has been found to be determined by the genotype of the snail's mother, rather than its own genotype
baherus [9]

Answer:

maternal effects

Explanation:

The correct answer would be maternal effects.

The maternal effect is a genetic phenomenon that is characterized by an organism having the phenotypic expression that is compatible with the genotype of its mother irrespective of the organism's genotype itself.

This condition often occurs as a result of the mother supplying messenger RNA or protein to the egg that results in the formation of a zygote/embryo. Consequently, the genome of the mother dictates the functionality of the molecule in such offspring.

Brown eyes in humans are dominant to blue eyes. A brown-eyed man, whose mother was blue-eyed, marries a brown-eyed woman whose f
Anettt [7]

Answer:

Man: Bb

Man’s mother: bb

Woman:Bb

Woman’s father: bb

Explanation:

Brown eyes are dominant over blue eyes, so, in order for a person to have blue eyes, they must carry both recessive alleles for blue. This means the man’s mother and the woman’s father must have the genotype bb. The man and the woman on the other hand have brown eyes, which means they got the dominant brown eye trait from their other parent and will have a heterozygous genotype Bb.

Reabsorption of filtered glucose from the filtrate into the cells of the proximal tubule is by: Reabsorption of filtered glucose
marysya [2.9K]

Answer: A(secondary active transport)

Explanation:

Secondary active transport, is transport of molecules across the cell membrane which utilizes energy created by co-transporter pumping of ions across the membrane in an electrochemical gradient.

The reabsorption of glucose from the proximal tubule occurs via secondary active transport.

The reabsorbption of glucose does not depend the concentration gradient but on the reabsorption of sodium a co-transporter.

ATP is used in the movements of Na+/K+. Energy is also produced from sodium electrochemical gradient concentration and it is enough energy to transport glucose across the membrane into the epithelial cells.
