39. If all the vegetation on a pond died then the organisms and fishes that lives on that pond will no longer have anything to eat and anything to live, thus the probability is that they will also die. Let’s put ourselves in the shoes of those fishes. If all the plants and vegetation died on that pond, it’s like our home and food were taken from us. Then there’s nothing left. How can we survive without having food?

Base excision repair (BER) differs from nucleotide excision repair (NER) in which of the following ways?
postnew [5]

The correct answer is:  5) NER recognizes helix distortions, while BER recognizes specific base damage.

DNA damage that occurs as a result of radiation, oxidizing reagents, chemicals and other mutagens can be repaired. Excision repair repairs single strand DNA damage and it includes:

• Nucleotide excision repair (NER)-it detects and repairs types of damage that distort the DNA double helix such as those of UV radiation (thymine dimers); not only the damaged nucleotide(s) are removed but also a surrounding patch of DNA

• Base excision repair (BER)-it detects and removes certain types of damaged bases (small, non-helix-distorting bases); enzyme glycosylase is responsible for this type of repair

Some students want to test different soils to find out which ones absorb heat the fastest. For the first test, they put 500 gram
tankabanditka [31]

Answer:

Weight of the soil (500g)

Explanation:

According to this question, some students are conducting an experiment in order to find out which of the different soils used absorb heat the fastest. For the first test, they put 500 grams of SAND in a beaker and put a thermometer in the sand.

In an experiment, the variables that must be kept constant for all the groups is called the CONSTANT OR CONTROLLED VARIABLE. This is done in order not to influence the outcome of the experiment. In this case, the weight (500g) of the soil should be kept the same for all other tests.

This means that for the remaining soil being tested, 500g of each type of soil should be used.
