The United States and Canada are very similar culturally as they both have strong economies in the top 10 in the world.  Both American and Canadian citizens enjoy among the highest living standards in the world. In sheer economic terms, however, the United States economy is much larger and there is a lot more investment in technology and pharmaceutical industries for example as there are fewer taxes and less control of labor practices and workers' rights in the United States. This makes it more profitable for large and medium-sized corporations in the USA and there are more entrepreneurs and small businesses as well because of more favorable social and political terms.
