Tragedy is a literary genre that focuses on a character whose flaws and inherent nature lead her/him to fatal consequences, usually resulting in her/his death, after facing a series of dire circumstances.
An example of a tragedy is Antigone by Sophocles, in which the eponymous protagonist has a fatal flaw that leads her to her demise.
