The Prioress or Madame Eglantine is one of the central characters in the Tale. She is satirically depicted as someone who's supposed to be humble and lead a simple life but then, dressed lavishly and uncharacteristic of a nun. But at the same time, she is also depicted as charitable and compassionate.
