Pronouns are used when writing to refer to a given character or person while respecting their gender identity some examples of pronouns would be she/her, he/him, they/them etc. Some examples of this would be... They were just about to feed their cats. She was just about to feed her dog. He was just about to feed his cat. I hope that this helps! :)

They are used to replace a pronoun ...

Example: Sarah is doing her homework (noun)

She is doing her homework (pronoun)

She replaces the proper noun sarah
