As the altitude increases the air get colders and pressure drops.

Explanation:

  • The air that travels through the troposphere gets colder and dries out as there are fewer molecules of air to create friction.
  • Hence the pressure drops rapidly and only about 10% of the air pressure can be found at the top of the troposphere. Thus pressure is always measured from the base sea levels.
