Write an absolute value inequality to describe the graph.

Mathematics
1 answer:
aniked [119]3 years ago
4 0

Answer:

A: |x - 6| ≤ 6

Step-by-step explanation:

Looking at the number line graph to interpret the inequality, since the plot is between -6 and 6, the mid value will be (-6 + 6)/2 = 0. Thus, we have;

0 - 6 < x - 6 < 6 - 0

This gives;

-6 < x - 6 < 6

Thus, writing in absolute value, we have;

|x - 6| ≤ 6

12 balls numbered 1 through 12 are placed in a bin. In how many ways can 3 balls be drawn, in order, from the bin, if each ball
Iteru [2.4K]

Answer:

1320

Step-by-step explanation:

There are three "spots" for balls.

__ __ __

For the first "spot," and without replacement, meaning we don't put the balls back, there are 12 choices.

12 __ __

But for the next spot, there are only 11 choices. And for the next, there are only 10!

12 11 10

Since these are independent events, we multiply them together.

12 x 11 x 10 = 1320

There are 1320 possibilities!

How could we do it on the calculator, much faster? The question says "in order," so we know it's a permutation, not a combination. This is the nPr button on the calculator (math -> prb -> 2). Just type in 12 nPr 3 and you get the same answer, 1320.

How many Y-intercepts can a Quadratic Funtion Can Have ?
netineya [11]
If your quadratic function has x intercepts of 4 and -3, that means that the points are (4, 0) and (-3,0), or the values x has when y=0. Since your quadratic (which represents y) must then equal 0, then your factors of that equation would potentially equal 0 as well. That means that if x=4, then subtract 4 from each side to get x-4=0, and so one factor is (x-4) Similarly your other factor would be (x+3).

Please help???? Geometry
Musya8 [376]
Any line can be expresses as:

y=mx+b where m=slope=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1) and b=y-intercept (value of y when x=0)

First find the slope:

m=(2-0)/(8-0)=2/8=1/4 so we have thus far:

y=0.25x+b, we solve for b using any point on the line, (8,2)

2=0.25(8)+b

2=2+b

0=b

So the line is:

y=.25x which they might also express as y=x/4

The answer is E. (1/4)x
