We evaluate the polynomial at x= -1 and get

$7 (-1)^3 + 5(-1)^2 - 2 = -7 + 5 - 2 = -4$

Answer: -4

When x = -1 the expression =  7(-1)^3  + 5(-1)^2 - 2

= -7 + 5 - 2

= -4
