Powhatan, father of Pocahontas, thinks they should try and live in peace because he desired goods to trade.

The attitude of Powhatan towards the settlers of Jamestown is for peace and trade. Upon the arrival of the settlers to America, Powhatan and his people helped them survive during their first years in these lands. The Native Americans are willing to exchange food for metal and manufactured goods.
