Answer:

Option (2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Statement p → If an animal is an adult insect

Statement q → It has six legs

Contrapositive statement means: -q → -p

"If not q then not p"

Therefore, costrapositive statement of the given conditional statement will be,

If the animal does not have six legs, then it is not an adult insect.

Option (2) will be the answer.

Below are the heights (in inches) of students in a third-grade class. Find the median height. 39, 37, 48, 49, 40, 42, 48, 53, 47
Nutka1998 [239]

Given:

The heights (in inches) of students in a third-grade class are:

39, 37, 48, 49, 40, 42, 48, 53, 47, 42, 49, 51, 52, 45, 47, 48

To find:

The median height.

Solution:

The given data set is:

39, 37, 48, 49, 40, 42, 48, 53, 47, 42, 49, 51, 52, 45, 47, 48

Arrange the data set in ascending order.

37, 39, 40, 42, 42, 45, 47, 47, 48, 48, 48, 49, 49, 51, 52, 53

Here, the number of observations is 16. So, the median of the given data set is:

Median=\dfrac{\dfrac{n}{2}\text{th term}+\left(\dfrac{n}{2}+1\right)\text{th term}}{2}

Median=\dfrac{\dfrac{16}{2}\text{th term}+\left(\dfrac{16}{2}+1\right)\text{th term}}{2}

Median=\dfrac{8\text{th term}+9\text{th term}}{2}

Median=\dfrac{47+48}{2}

Median=\dfrac{95}{2}

Median=47.5

Therefore, the median height of the students is 47.5 inches.

The average annual costs for owning two different refrigerators for x years is given by the two functions: f(x) = 850 + 62x /x a
Alex17521 [72]

Answer:

In the long run cost of the refrigerator g(x) will be cheaper.

Step-by-step explanation:

The average annual cost for owning two different refrigerators for x years is given by two functions

f(x) = \frac{850+62x}{x}

     = \frac{850}{x}+62

and g(x) = \frac{1004+51x}{x}

             = \frac{1004}{x}+51

If we equate these functions f(x) and g(x), value of x (time in years) will be the time by which the cost of the refrigerators will be equal.

At x = 1 year

f(1) = 850 + 62 = $912

g(1) = 1004 + 51 = $1055

So initially f(x) will be cheaper.

For f(x) = g(x)

\frac{850}{x}+62 = \frac{1004}{x}+51

\frac{1004}{x}-\frac{850}{x}=1004-850

\frac{154}{x}=11

x = \frac{154}{11}=14

Now f(15) = 56.67 + 62 = $118.67

and g(x) = 66.93 + 51 = $117.93

So g(x) will be cheaper than f(x) after 14 years.

This tells below 14 years f(x) will be less g(x) but after 14 years cost g(x) will be cheaper than f(x).

Based on Pythagoras' theorem, explain the structure of the Egyptian pyramids? <br> PLZ HELPPPPP
frutty [35]

The pyramids in Egypt developed in several stages. The first pyramid dates back to the third dynasty. King Djoser had a step pyramid constructed at Saqqara. Djoser's chief architect Imhotep is credited with developing the step pyramid from the older mastaba tomb. The mastaba is thought by some to represent a bed. Mastabas are large rectangular structures that form the monument for the deceased. The dead were buried in shafts that were sunk into the ground. Imhotep stacked successively smaller rectangular shaped structures to create what is now known as the step pyramid.

Miroslav Verner [1]. writes: "At the outset the structure had the form of a square mastaba (stage M1), which was gradually enlarged, first equally on all four sides (stage M2) and then only o the east side (stage M2). The mastaba <...> already had a step shape in the M3 stage. The step-shaped mastaba was finally built in two stages, first as a four step (P1) and then as a six-step (P2) pyramid, which no longer had - and this is a noteworthy point - a square base; it now had a rectangular base, oriented east-west."

At last week's track meet, Stacy ran 9/12 of a km, Jules ran 4/5 of a km, and Raul ran 3/4 of a mile. Which two students ran the
koban [17]

Answer:  No two students ran same distance

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Stacy ran \frac{9}{12} of a km i.e.

\Rightarrow 1\times \dfrac{9}{12}=\dfrac{3}{4}=0.75\ km

Jules ran \frac{4}{5} of a km i.e.

\Rightarrow 1\times \dfrac{4}{5}=0.8\ km

Raul ran \frac{3}{4} of mile i.e.

\Rightarrow 1\times \dfrac{3}{4}=0.75\ miles\\\\\text{1 mile=1.6 km}\\\\\Rightarrow 0.75\ miles=1.2\ km

So, no two students ran the same distance.
