How did Roman law eventually affect people living in present day United States?
Mashutka [201]

Law has been defined, as the "Art of Social Control"; the

system of rules regulating the conduct of mankind. Laws are

not the result of spontaneous action, but they are accumulated

through the course of time to meet the demands of the people to

whom they apply; they are affected by the industry of a country,

and by the political, social and religious belief of the law-makers.

It is evident, then, that one may learn the history of a nation,

by studying its laws.

What is the significance of the treaty of Tordesillad
In-s [12.5K]
The Pope decreed that all lands discovered west of a meridian 100 leagues (one league is 3 miles or 4.8 km) west of the Cape Verde Islands should belong to Spain while new lands discovered east of that line would belong to Portugal. This papal bull also specified that all lands already under the control of a "Christian prince" would remain under that same control.

In your own words, describe the form of government the Romans established under the republic. You must use- senate, consuls, dic
OlgaM077 [116]

The Romans established a form of government :a republic that was copied by countries for centuries In fact, the government of the United States is based partly on Rome's model. It all began when the Romans overthrew their Etruscan conquerors in 509 B.C.E. Centered north of Rome, the Etruscans had ruled over the Romans for hundreds of years.

Once free, the Romans established a republic, a government in which citizens elected representatives to rule on their behalf. A republic is quite different from a democracy, in which every citizen is expected to play an active role in governing the state.

The aristocracy (wealthy class) dominated the early Roman Republic. In Roman society, the aristocrats were known as patricians. The highest positions in the government were held by two consuls, or leaders, who ruled the Roman Republic. A senate composed of patricians elected these consuls. At this time, lower-class citizens, or plebeians, had virtually no say in the government. Both men and women were citizens in the Roman Republic, but only men could vote.

Tradition dictated that patricians and plebeians should be strictly separated; marriage between the two classes was even prohibited.

How are Primary sources and Secondary sources similar and how are they different.
Zepler [3.9K]
Primary and secondary sources are similar in a couple ways. They both are ways to get information. They both are good things to go to if you are wanting to learn about a certain subject. With similarities there is some differences. Primary sources are writings or things that came from the time when it was happening. Example: George Washington's Journal that he specifically wrote during the time that it was written. A secondary source is like a copy of a primary source. It is something that didn't happen at that time. Example: The American Flag we can buy. That is a copy of the original flag.

Explain how the idea of self-determination in the Treaty of Versailles reflects Enlightenment ideals.
Marizza181 [45]

Answer:

Self-determination was applied in the Versailles Treaty when it suited the European members' interests, but was ignored when it did not. Wilson found that to persuade his more pragmatic European allies to agree to his cherished League of Nations, he had to compromise on most of his other points.
