Answer:

Suggesting each household has a story.

Explanation:

The poem "One Today" by Richard Blanco was the inaugural poem at the time of the second inauguration of President Barack Obama in 2013. The poem is a celebration of the shared American experience of diverse people from different cultures and backgrounds.

In the poem, Blanco unifies everyone under <em>"one sun", "one light"</em>. He went on to create a sense of common experience by suggesting that each household, under<em> "one light"</em> has a story to tell. This common quality of different families telling our stories through <em>"our silent gestures moving across windows"</em> is what makes America great too.

Thus, the correct answer is the third option.

Which word best describes Angelou’s tone towards Mrs. Cullinan in chapter 16? *
adoni [48]

Answer:

C. Derisive

Explanation:

The question is from Maya Angelou's <em>I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. </em>In Chapter 16, Angelou, through her main character, Marguerite, describes the discrimination between how white and black girls are prepared for life. She describes,  “While white girls learned to waltz and sit gracefully with a tea cup balanced . . . we were lagging behind, learning the mid-Victorian values.” Black girls are also taught to work in the kitchen for white families.

One day, Marguerite overhears her employer, Mrs. Cullinan while she's talking to the cook. “her name’s too long. I’d never bother myself. I’d call her Mary if I was you.” Angelou describes Marguerite's anger and disgust in the words, “lunch in her mouth a second time.” Later, Marguerite is so angry that she decides to quit her job and breaks several of Mrs. Cullinan's favorite dishes.

Why does a poet use imagery in his or her poems?
Anuta_ua [19.1K]
<span>The purpose of imagery in poetry is to help get the poet's message across in language that is strong, vivid and very visual. The poet will use words to create images in our heads that help us to interpret the poem in the way he sees it. Every person has a different view on life and poets are inspired to record theirs for others to read and identify with. Sometimes, such as in "Vampire" by Ted Hughes, the images will be gruesome - as in a party host with  a slack mouth like a gaping sack. Sometimes, such as in Shakespeare (Sonnet 18) the images are delicate and beautiful as in "shall I compare thee to a summer's day." Sometimes poets use similes in comparison, sometimes they use personification and sometimes metaphor. All create visuals for us, whether to shock or delight. HOPE THIS HELPS :)</span>
