Oversimplification and Exaggeration are two major types of fallacies and they are classified as causation fallacies.

Oversimplification refers to when a situation might have multiple causes but these are reduced to a significantly smaller number thereby weakening the chance to find out how the situation arose.

Exaggeration is the opposite of this and involves increasing the reasons something might have happened which in most cases results in things that have nothing/ little to do with the situation being included as causes.
