Which instruments play the opening theme in the second movement of haydn's military symphony? Which do not?
Korvikt [17]

Strings and woodwinds play the opening theme in the second movement of haydn's military symphony.

Triangle and trumpet did not.

The second movement of Haydn's 100th symphony combines the concept of variation with the ternary structure (A-B-A'). Haydn included the triangle, cymbals and bass drum in his military symphonies because he had heard these instruments in the Austrian countryside.

The symphony, originally titled Grand Overture with Military Movement, was first performed on 31 March 1794 in the Hanover Square Room for an audience of 800 people.
