A conceptual model is the one which shows the interaction between the living and non living components of the ecosystem with the help of a flow chart.
The conceptual models are also called as compartmental models.
An example of the conceptual model present in the ecosystem is the food web.
A food web is a system of interlocking food chains which shows the feeding relationship between various organisms.
A food chain is simply a linear flow chart which shows who eats who in an ecosystem. e.g grass-----> insect----->vole---->hawk
When several food chains are linked together we get a food web.
