What happened to the population of karachi after the partition of the indian sub-continent in 1947?
azamat

When Karachi became the capital of Pakistan on August 14, 1947, its population was approximately 450,000 people. However, following independence in 1947, the population grew rapidly due to a large influx of Muslim refugees. The city's population had surpassed one million by 1951.

Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, has a natural harbor that has been used as a fishing port by locals since prehistory.

Archaeological excavations have revealed a period dating back to the Indus Valley civilization, demonstrating the port's importance since the Bronze Age.

It was known as the port of Debal by the Arabs. It was from here that Muhammad bin Qasim led his conquering force into Sindh  in AD 712.
