Mathematics

3 0

Answer:  2i\sqrt{3}

where i = \sqrt{-1}

====================================================

Work Shown:

x = \sqrt{-12}\\\\x = \sqrt{-1*4*3}\\\\x = \sqrt{-1}*\sqrt{4}*\sqrt{3}\\\\x = i*2*\sqrt{3}\\\\x = 2i\sqrt{3}\\\\

Therefore, \sqrt{-12} = 2i\sqrt{3}

------------

Explanation:

The basic steps are to factor the radicand such that we pull out the -1 and we also pull out the largest perfect square factor. That way we can then apply the rule \sqrt{A*B} = \sqrt{A}*\sqrt{B} to break up the root and simplify.

Need help! 20 points!<br> No links please
denis-greek [22]

Answer:

480 in3

Step-by-step explanation:

So the first thing I looked at was how to find the volume of a 3-dimensional square. Why do we have to do this? Well, we can see that the shape is made up of 3 different types of 3-dimensional cubes so to find the answer all we have to do is figure out the volume for each separate cube and add them all together.

So, to find the volume of a cube we have to multiply the area (length x width) by the height of each cube.

Let's start with the largest cube so we would multiply 5 x 12 x 4 which equals <u>v = 240</u>

Now let us do the second to largest by multiplying 8 x 5 x 4 = which equals    <u>v = 160</u>

Finally, on to the smallest cube, 4 x 4 x 5 =

<u>v = 80</u>

So now if we add <u><em>240 + 160 + 80</em></u> that will give us 480

So the answer is <u><em>480 in3</em></u>

Hope this is correct I was a little confused while I was figuring it out :0 Sorry if it is wrong :(
