If someone is a Christian or Buddhist they live their life now based on what they think is going to happen in the afterlife. I believe a person's view of the afterlife affects day to day things that affect the life they're living now. For example, in the Buddhist religion if it is against their laws to sleep more than six hours, then someone who follows that religion is not going to do that now in their present life because of how it may affect them in the afterlife. A person's view of the afterlife definitely affects how they treat others because, if someone believes that there is nothing after this life then there is nothing for them to work towards in this life, so they may choose to live it however they want with no apparent consequences. This includes treating people however they want, kindly or maliciously. But on the other hand, even if people do not believe there is anything after this life they could choose to live it to their best because there will be nothing else. Others based on their view of the afterlife treat people a certain way because of their beliefs, Christians for example are supposed to treat everyone with kindness as Jesus did.
