At 95% confidence, how large a sample should be taken to obtain a margin of error of 0.03 for the estimation of a population pro
Gnom [1K]

Answer:

A sample of 1068 is needed.

Step-by-step explanation:

In a sample with a number n of people surveyed with a probability of a success of \pi, and a confidence level of 1-\alpha, we have the following confidence interval of proportions.

\pi \pm z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}}

In which

z is the zscore that has a pvalue of 1 - \frac{\alpha}{2}.

The margin of error is:

M = z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}}

95% confidence level

So \alpha = 0.05, z is the value of Z that has a pvalue of 1 - \frac{0.05}{2} = 0.975, so Z = 1.96.

At 95% confidence, how large a sample should be taken to obtain a margin of error of 0.03 for the estimation of a population proportion?

We need a sample of n.

n is found when M = 0.03.

We have no prior estimate of \pi, so we use the worst case scenario, which is \pi = 0.5

Then

M = z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}}

0.03 = 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.5*0.5}{n}}

0.03\sqrt{n} = 1.96*0.5

\sqrt{n} = \frac{1.96*0.5}{0.03}

(\sqrt{n})^{2} = (\frac{1.96*0.5}{0.03})^{2}

n = 1067.11

Rounding up

A sample of 1068 is needed.

Most ATM’s require a 4-digit code using the digits 0-9 how many 4-digit codes can you use
Zolol [24]

10000 digits can be used for 4 digit A.T.M code.

<u>Solution:</u>

Given that A.T.M required 4 digit codes using the digits 0 to 9.

Need to determine how many four digit code can be used.

We are assuming that number starting with 0 are also valid ATM codes that means 0789 , 0089 , 0006 and 0000 are also valid A.T.M codes.

Now we have four places to be filled by 0 to 9 that is 10 numbers

Also need to keep in mind that repetition is allowed in this case means if 9 is selected at thousands place than also it is available for hundreds, ones or tens place .

First digit can be selected in 10 ways that is from 0 to 9.

After selecting first digit, second digit can be selected in 10 ways that is 0 to 9 and same holds true for third and fourth digit.

So number of ways in which four digit number is created = 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 = 10000 ways

Hence 10000 digits can be used for 4 digit A.T.M code.

How much fabric is needed to create the lateral faces of the tent?
jek_recluse [69]
Left and right side: 6.4*7=44.8
44.8+44.8=89.6
front (where the zipper is) and back: half of 5*8=20
20+20=40

40+89.6=129.6

the area of the bottom is 7*8=56

the total area is 129.6+56=185.6

I am not sure what lateral area includes. To me, the answer should be 129.6, but 129.6 is not a choice.
I'd suggest 185.6, the total surface area.
