Answer:

3.88 : 3.25   ≈   13 : 11

Step-by-step explanation:

I don't know what are you in, geometry or algebra? I'll post my way of solution. It may need some calculator calculation that I can't give detail of steps here. I just like to explore something, wish it help.

suppose D is the origin, DA = 4 and AB = 5

A (0,4)    B(5,4)    C(5,0)    D(0,0)

AE/AC = 3/4   (i.e. AE/EC = 3/1)

parallel of EF with DC and EG with BC

CF/BC = CE/AC = 1/4

CF = BC x 1/4 = 4 x 1/4 = 1

DG/DC = AE/AC = 3/4

DG = DC x 1/4 = 5 x 3/4 = 15/4

coordinator of E (3.75 , 1)

length of DE = √3.75² + 1² = 3.88

length of BE = √1.25² + 3² = 3.25

DE : BE = 3.88 : 3.25 ≈ 13: 11     (3.88/13 ≈ 0.29,  3.25/11 ≈ 0.29)

a woman at a point a on the shore of a circular lake with radius 1.2 mi wants to arrive at the point B diametrically opposite A
Flauer [41]

The angle θ to the diameter that she should row is; θ = 56.44°

<h3>How to find the angle of an arc?</h3>

It should be noted that;

a = 90° - θ. Thus;

b = 2θ

For any circle, the angle subtended (in radians) is equal to the arc length (d_w ) divided by the radius (1.2). Thus; d_w = 4θ .

The time required to walk this distance is given by;

t_w = 4θ/5 = 0.8θ

The distance rowed is given by: cos θ = d_r/2.4

d_r = 2.4cos θ while the time needed for it is;

t_r = 2.4cos θ/3.5

t_r = 0.6857θ

Thus, total time is;

T(θ) = t_r + t_w

T(θ) = 0.6857θ + 0.8θ

T(θ) = 1.4857θ

Now we need the critical numbers:

T'(θ) = 1 - 1.2 sin θ

At T'(θ) = 0, we have;

1 - 1.2 sin θ = 0

1/1.2 = sin θ

θ = sin⁻¹(1/1.2)

θ = 56.44°

If p(x) = x2 – 1 and 9(x) = 5(x-1), which expression is equivalent to (p - 9)(x)?
Westkost [7]

For this case we have the following functions:

p (x) = x ^ 2-1\\9 (x) = 5 (x-1)

We must find (p-9) (x). By definition of composition of functions we have:

(p-9) (x) = p (x) -9 (x)

So:

(p-9) (x) = x ^ 2-1- [5 (x-1)] = (x ^ 2-1) -5 (x-1)

Thus, the correct option is option C.

Answer:

(x ^ 2-1) -5 (x-1)

Option C

Maya makes trail mix by combining 1/3 cup of mixed nuts, 1/4 cup of dried fruit, 1/6 cup of chocolate morsels. What is the total
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

The total amount of trial mix made by Maya is\frac{9}{12}\ \ \ Or\ \frac{3}{4}.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Amount of mixed nuts = \frac{1}{3}\ cup

Amount of dry fruits = \frac{1}{4}\ cup

Amount of chocolate morsels = \frac{1}{6}\ cup

We have to find out the total amount of trial mix made by Maya.

Solution,

Total amount of trial mix is the sum of amount of mixed nuts, amount of dried fruit and amount of chocolate morsels.

So we can frame the above sentence in equation form as;

Total amount of trial mix = Amount of mixed nuts + Amount of dry fruits + Amount of chocolate morsels

On putting the given values, we get;

Total amount of trial mix =\frac{1}{3}+\frac{1}{4}+\frac{1}{6}

Here we have to add the fractions.

For this we will make the denominator same.

Total amount of trial mix =\frac{1\times4}{3\times4}+\frac{1\times3}{4\times3}+\frac{1\times2}{6\times2}=\frac{4}{12}+\frac{3}{12}+\frac{2}{12}=\frac{9}{12}\ \ \ Or\ \frac{3}{4}

Hence The total amount of trial mix made by Maya is\frac{9}{12}\ \ \ Or\ \frac{3}{4}.
