How do the lithosphere and asthenosphere differ from each other?

At a depth of almost 3000 km, you reach the core, which is made of iron and nickel and is even denser than the mantle. The lithosphere is made up the crust plus the very upper part of the mantle, whereas the asthenosphere is only upper mantle material.

Both the lithosphere and asthenosphere are part of Earth and are made of similar material. Lithosphere is made up of Earth's outermost layer, the crust, and the uppermost portion of the mantle. In comparison, the asthenosphere is the upper portion of Earth's mantle (which is also the middle layer of Earth).
