Open the site in your browser. (If any pop-up windows appear, think about what they indicate about the web site before you close
Nataliya [291]

Answer:

It is not possible to determine if the site is trustworthy, because no link is provided. However, here are some basic guidelines for you to do it on your own with this and any other website.

Explanation:

Whenever we conduct internet research, there are some basic aspects that must be considered to determine the source's trustworthiness:

Autorship - The author of the text must be clearly mentioned and be someone qualified to discuss the subject, such as a scholar or an experienced person in the field. Most of the times, contact information is provided.

Domain - The kind of domain for the website can also determine reliability. .edu, .gov, and .org are used for educational, government, and non-profit organizations, respectively. Suchs domains will contain more reliable information than a .com or .co site, which are for commercial use.

Purpose and audience - A trustworthy source of information clearly states who is their target audience and what is the purpose for addressing certain topics. This might be determined by the language used and the content itself.

If there is sponsorship or clear intention of selling a product, the author may be biased. The same can be said if there are pop-up windows that direct to a commercial external website or in-page advertisement.

Objectivity - Reliable information has to be presented in an objective and unbiased manner, refering to facts and evidence, and presenting all sides of the matter without pushing for a forced conclusion on the reader's side.}

If there are any personal opinions presented, they must be clearly stated as that, without mixing them with the main body of the text.

Accuracy - The information must be properly written, using correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling, and using an appropriate vocabulary to the intended audience.

The information must be clearly sourced and be easily corroborated.

Updated (and dated) - Trustworthy information relies on constant updates from the authors, based on the latest research or debate on the topic in hand. All pieces of writing have to be clearly dated, so the information can be verified and crossexamined with other sources.

Which of these passages would most likely be part of an expository text?
AveGali [126]

Answer:

Passage 1

Explanation:

An expository essay is an essay that is meant to explain, illustrate or clarify a topic in a straightforward way so it becomes clear to the readers.

This can be accomplished by using comparison, contrast, definition, use of examples and using the concept of cause and effect.

As the name suggests, what it does is to expose. It is meant to educate the reader.

The first passage is an expository text because it uses description to educate the readers on the weather.
