a) Data and Calculations:

Number of square meters that Ruben can pain in one hour = 6 1/2m²

Therefore, every 1/2 half he can paint 3.25m² or 3 1/4m²

In two hours, he can pain 6 1/2m² * 2 = 13m²

Using the same rate, in 2 1/2 hours, he can pain =xm² (0r 13m² + 3 1/4m²)

x = 6.5 * 2.5

= 16.25

= 16 1/4m²

b) Since Ruben can paint 6 1/2m² in one hour, he can then paint more square meters, multiplied by 2.5 in 2 1/2 hours.  This means that he will be doubling the square area he can paint in 2 hours and painting half of the square area in 1/2 hour's time, given his speed.
