But, since it would nearly die in all the snow, they agreed to let the dog stay until the snow cleared up. After the snow cleared up Doris's dad, Mr.Lacey took the puppy to the shelter. Doris cried all night. The shelter was very dirty when Mr.Lacey got there. He decided to surprise Doris by keeping the puppy. So, the next day when Doris came downstairs upset, her mom, Mrs.Lacey and her dad, Mr.Lacey surprised her with the puppy, the stray. Doris was extremely excited. It was the best day of her life.
