The Jacksonian Era was characterized by the idea that every citizen was equally important and that all should participate actively in government. The old friends whom Jackson consulted instead of his regular cabinet were called the "kitchen cabinet."
<span>First grant had the cavalry raid all over the state of Mississippi and this would divert the attention of the garrison commander and let grant make his move. Then grant along with his men managed to get in the territory through the eastern bank of the river without getting noticed.</span>
