mitochondria- produce chemical energy; the cell's powerhouse

ribosomes- assemble proteins

cell membrane controls what goes in and out of a cell

if you found piophila casei and bone eating beetles on a body, what could you say about the time of death
IRINA_888 [86]
Well, both tend to feed on already decaying things, so I'd say that the body is at least 20 to 50 days after death. Beetles normally take over around that time because maggots can no longer get through the dry tissue.

Which blood component is NOT correctly matched with its function? Select one: a. erythrocytes - transport oxygen b. leukocytes -
laiz [17]

Answer:

c. platelets - phagocytize

Explanation:

Platelets are blood cells also known as thrombocyte, that helps with blood clotting to stop bleeding. In the case of an injury that leads to blood vessel damage, signals are sent to the blood platelets, once the signals are sent, the platelets and other coagulation react to the blood vessel damage and they form they initiate a plug (clot) to fix the blood vessel damage.

The are usually not involved in phagocytosis, the phagocytes including macrophages, monocytes, granulocytes, and dendritic cells are involved in phagocytosis

explain how a change in the sequence of nucleotide in a strand of DNA might cause a protein to malfunction
Diano4ka-milaya [45]

Answer: Proteins are made using DNA as a template. The DNA is turned into RNA, and the RNA is then turned into DNA.

A change in these nucleotides could end up making some part of the protein different. A single nucleotide change could be silent (no change in the protein) or could change a single amino acid (amino acids are the building blocks of proteins). If that was an important amino acid, the protein might not function at all! A silent change can occur because the same set of nucleotides sometimes makes the same final amino acid (for example, reading "gcc" "gca" "gcg" or "gct" nucleotides all mean "alanine" amino acid).

The deletion of a single nucleotide, or the addition of one, can change the entire sequence of amino acids that come after it! Nucleotides are read in sets of three, so this throws off how the DNA is read. If would be like turning "The brown fox jumps over the dog" into "The gbrow nfo xjump sove rth edo g". Completely different! All of the words are thrown off.

I know it is long but I hope it helped

:D
