The Washington territory took long time to become a state because the admission to the union is a slow process which takes too much time. The Washington territory become a state on November 11, 1889. There are many other territories which become state along Washington that were Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota. May be the country is not ready for the Washington territory to become a state because it needs more resources and contribution in the budget and at that time America was not ready to bear the burden of a new state.
