This means farming that not only produces food, jobs and economic well-being, but also creates cultural, social and environmental benefits. Agroecology also protects and provides ecosystem services like pollination, natural pest control, nutrient and water cycling and erosion control.

Agro ecology is the future of farming

Farming for the Future is a holistic farming approach that starts with building and maintaining the soil, because healthy soil is better able to retain water, reducing irrigation and water usage, and soil erosion and loss of top soil are reduced.

Agroecological methods can also help farmers cope with climate change by enhancing resilience. Agroecology has the explicit goal of strengthening the sustainability of all parts of the food system, from the seed and the soil, to the table, including ecological knowledge, economic viability, and social justice.
