Why did some oppose women's higher education??

One of the main reasons why some opposed women's higher education was because of the view of many men that women's role in the family should be confined to the household--raising children, making meals, etc. Higher education implied that women would start getting jobs and competing with men in the workplace.

3. It was greatly praised. But anti slave people in the South wanted another vote. But pro slave people didn't vote because they wanted to keep slavery.
