Answer:

One effect of the Latin suffix -ent is to turn

D. a verb into an adjective.

Explanation:

The Latin suffix -ent has the effect of turning verbs into adjectives. It conveys the idea that this person or thing is the performer or the cause of a specific action. It can also refer to something or someone that is in a specific condition. Take a look at the examples below. Notice how we are transforming verbs into adjectives:

- absorb --> absorbent

- differ --> different

- refer --> referent

Now let's form some sentences with a couple of the adjectives above to have an idea of how the suffix is used:

- Joshua told me about the different ideas his group had.

- I bought the most absorbent towels I could find.

Eva8 [605]

Answer:

Ellis Island welcomed many new immigrants to the United States.

Explanation:

Ellis Island is an island in the Port of New York and New Jersey at the mouth of the Hudson River. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, the port on the island was the arrival point for many of the immigrants who came to the United States. Individuals with chronic illnesses or who showed signs of fatal illness were denied entry and were allowed to return. Many of these immigrants settled during their first years in New York and northern New Jersey. The port was opened January 1, 1892 and closed November 29, 1954. Over the years, 12 million immigrants passed the port, but 2% were not allowed to enter the United States and were sent home.

The island got its name after a Samuel Ellis, who owned the island in the 1770s. However, it came into state ownership in the early 1800s.

Hello. You forgot the answer options. the options are:

The Giver sees the memories as a heavy responsibility.

The Giver is delighted to be trusted by the elders.

The Giver recognizes that his job could not be done by anyone else.

The Giver is respectful of the community’s memories.

Answer:

The Giver sees the memories as a heavy responsibility.

Explanation:

The text above shows how the giver was overwhelmed with having to keep people's memories. This role in society was given to him as something very honorable and that would give him an unparalleled privilege, which would make him admired by the whole society, but none of this seems to make sense to him, since the burden of carrying all these memories and thoughts were too heavy and he feared he would not be able to bear it.
